Construction begins on 6 Cross Island Line Phase 2 stations; targeted for 2032 completion

Construction work for the six stations of Phase 2 of the Cross Island Line (CRL) has started and is targeted for completion by 2032, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Monday (Jul 7). Of the six underground stations, two will be interchange stations – Clementi and King Albert Park – they will connect commuters to the East-West Line and Downtown Line (DTL) respectively.

Reit-owned malls more likely to forgo higher rents for right tenant mix

For Singapore-listed real estate investment trusts (S-Reits), rent increases are tempered by longer lease terms, a need to curate tenant mixes to drive foot traffic, and a focus on keeping their tenants’ businesses viable. These considerations set them apart from private commercial landlords, who may act more freely in setting rents, said analysts.

First Sembawang North BTO flats to be launched in July

The first batch of Housing & Development Board (HDB) Build-To-Order (BTO) flats in the new Sembawang North neighbourhood will be launched in July this year. The development, Sembawang Beacon, will comprise 775 flats ranging from two-room flexi to five-room as well as 3Gen flats. The project will have a waiting time of about three years, said HDB in a statement on Sunday (Jul 6).

Asean needs ‘bolder reforms’ to attract investments in more fragmented global economy: PM Wong

Asean must become a more seamless and competitive single market, one that attracts businesses and investments looking for alternatives in a more fragmented global economy. To get there, bolder reforms are needed, said Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in a video message posted on YouTube on July 5, adding that the association’s 10 nations may be limited in scale individually but together have considerable weight.

Tan Cheng Bock, Hazel Poa step down from PSP leadership; party launches ‘renewal plan’

Progress Singapore Party (PSP) founder and chairman Tan Cheng Bock and one of its former Non-Constituency MPs (NCMP), vice-chair Hazel Poa, have stepped down from the party’s leadership body.
