REDAS DIGITAL FUTURE SYMPOSIUM 2025
2 APRIL 2025, FRIDAY, 9AM
PARKROYAL COLLECTION, MARINA BAY
Mr Chia Ngiang Hong, Immediate Past President, REDAS
Distinguished Speakers, Panelists and Guests
A very good morning.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 REDAS Digital Future Symposium.
Driving Industry Growth through Innovation & Transformation
This symposium was formerly known as the REDAS IDD Symposium.
It was a platform set up since 2014 to promote Integrated Digital Delivery or IDD within the built environment.
This year, as we celebrate our 10th edition, we think it is timely to expand and rename the event to call it the REDAS Digital Future Symposium (DFS 2025) as the organising committee calls it, expanding the scope to cover emerging technologies, industry-wide innovation and transformation strategies.
We are in an era of immense change.
Geopolitical uncertainties, and shifting market dynamics demand that we rethink how we operate.
Against this backdrop, we thought the expanded scope for the symposium is appropriate, and adopted the title “Transform Today, Lead Tomorrow” as the theme for this year.
It is a call to action for all of us to embrace innovation and digital transformation to create future-ready, SMART and resilient developments that will define Singapore’s skyline in years to come.
REDAS’ DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION JOURNEY
But how do we transform?
As the industry representative for over 200 members, REDAS has always believed in the power of collective action to shape industry transformation.
For digital adoption in the built environment to be effective, we strongly believe that developers, contractors and subcontractors consultants need to work together to agree on standards and to drive mindset changes.
And since developers are key members in the real estate value chain, we had over the years, rallied our members to take the lead in digital transformation, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Building Information Modelling (BIM), and in more recent years, IDD, as critical tools to reshape how projects are planned, designed, and executed with greater precision and efficiency.
One recent initiative that REDAS has championed is RAPID, the acronym for Real Estate Analytics Performance Indicators Dashboard.
Conceptualized about 3 years ago to support the Built Environment Industry Transformation Map, RAPID is a data collection and visualization platform that helps to standardize data, and streamline processes across all stakeholders in the real estate development cycle.
I am pleased to announce that over 20 development projects are committed to the RAPID platform. These projects span across diverse asset classes, from private residential to hotels, integrated developments and even a few religious sites. Collectively, these projects comprise about 35% of the total Gross Floor Area (GFA) from Building Under Construction (BUC) residential sites awarded between 2023 and 2024.
We are heartened by the industry response, but see this as just the beginning.
RAPID is a very new product. With future industry support and collaboration, we are sure it can be further enhanced to become a key component for digital transformation across the built environment for all stakeholders.
COLLABORATION & DFS PROGRAMME
Let me come back to the keyword “Collaboration”.
Over the course of the day, we will hear from thought leaders, engage in discussions on digital strategies, and explore real-world case studies that showcase how technology is transforming our industry.
And you will come to see, that industry collaboration and an open mind to dialogue, are really key drivers to positive transformation.
And in that regard, I am also pleased to welcome students from our four institutes of higher learning. They represent the next generation who can further spark our industry’s innovation ambitions.
CLOSING
Finally, back to the keyword “collaboration”, collaboration would naturally mean that we have people that we are collaborating with.
For this symposium, I would like to take the opportunity to express my gratitude on behalf of REDAS to our sponsors, speakers, panelists, and organising committee for collaborating to make all this possible.
I wish you all a productive, insightful, and engaging day ahead.
Thank you.
