14 August 2025 – The REDAS C-Suite Exchange convened for an evening of insight, strategy and connection at CAMPUS by The Assembly Place, a vibrant student accommodation development in Singapore. The event, themed “Smart Spaces, Bold Moves”, gathered senior leaders from across the real estate ecosystem to explore how adaptive reuse, smart asset management and bold pivots can create lasting value.
Our featured speaker, Eugene Lim, Founder and CEO of The Assembly Place (TAP), was in conversation with Natalie Craig, CEO of Cushman & Wakefield Singapore. Their exchange offered a candid look at how people-centric design and bold strategies are reshaping the industry.

From Co-Living to Student Accommodation
Eugene shared TAP’s journey from a co-living operator to a leader in student accommodation. By recognising a strong demand from international students, TAP shifted focus to provide high-quality, community-driven housing. This pivot not only addressed a growing need but also demonstrated the value of data-driven decisions and targeted programming.

Adaptive Reuse as a Differentiator
Natalie led the discussion into TAP’s emphasis on adaptive reuse. Working within conservation guidelines and heritage footprints, TAP has turned constraints into opportunities. Their projects preserve character while integrating modern amenities, offering distinctive living spaces that new developments cannot replicate.

Revitalising CAMPUS
Guests also toured CAMPUS, once a run-down hostel, now transformed into a secure, landscaped and community-oriented residence. Through creative renewal, TAP uplifted the student living experience while enhancing the surrounding neighbourhood, reinforcing the power of placemaking to create value.

Community at the Core
Throughout the conversation, Eugene underscored that TAP’s greatest asset is its community. From intergenerational living spaces to student housing, TAP nurtures ecosystems that extend beyond bricks and mortar. Events, partnerships and sustainable tenancy practices strengthen connections, building long-term loyalty among residents and commercial tenants alike.
The evening highlighted the importance of agility, creativity and people-first thinking in shaping Singapore’s built environment. REDAS thanks The Assembly Place and Cushman & Wakefield for their partnership in hosting this C-Suite Exchange, and all members who contributed to the meaningful dialogue.
