Almost 600 industry partners gathered at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel for the annual REDAS Spring Festival Lunch, ushering in the Year of the Horse with optimism, strong momentum and a renewed spirit of collaboration across Singapore’s Built Environment sector.
REDAS was honoured to welcome Mr Edwin Tong SC, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, as Guest of Honour.
In his address, Minister Tong highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance regulatory clarity, improve inter-agency coordination and strengthen productivity within the sector. Key initiatives shared included refinements to the Land Betterment Charge (LBC) framework and the launch of the LBC Estimator, a new digital tool that enables developers to estimate charges upfront with greater certainty. These measures provide improved transparency, reduce administrative friction and support more efficient project planning.
The announcements underscore the importance of sustained and constructive dialogue between Government and industry. REDAS is encouraged that regular engagements continue to translate into practical enhancements that strengthen Singapore’s real estate ecosystem and support a more technology-enabled future. In his welcome address, REDAS President Mr Tan Swee Yiow also introduced the National University of Singapore (NUS) Real Estate Talent Programme, an industry-supported initiative that brings organisations together to showcase to students the breadth of opportunities within real estate.
Spanning development, urban planning, investment, asset management, research, advisory and emerging digital roles, the programme seeks to provide students with clearer visibility of the diverse career pathways available in shaping Singapore’s built environment. The strong support from early partners reflects a collective commitment by industry and public sector agencies to present a united effort in strengthening awareness, exposure and interest in real estate careers.
The Spring Festival Lunch continues to serve as an important platform for partnership, dialogue and alignment between industry and Government. It reinforces REDAS’ role as a connector, advocate and thought leader within the built ecosystem, championing initiatives that enhance competitiveness, resilience and long-term growth.
REDAS extends its appreciation to all members, partners and stakeholders for their strong support and participation, and looks forward to continued collaboration in building a vibrant and future-ready Built Environment sector.
