Celebrating 65 Years As A Fraternity!
More than 500 members, friends, and industry partners attended the REDAS 65th Anniversary Dinner on 15 November. Held at the Cassia Ballroom, Marina Bay Sands, it was a memorable evening as participants and guests reconnected and reinforced their commitment to the shared goal of building an enduring legacy of industry leadership and commitment to quality developments, as one united entity! Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore attended this very special occasion as our Guest-of-Honour. We are also honoured to have the esteemed presence of Ms Jane Ittogi and Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, Minister of State for Home Affairs & National Development.
Speaking at the momentous event, Mr Tan Swee Yiow, President of REDAS highlighted the pivotal role of real estate in nation building. He said, “Real Estate is central to nation building, not only shaping the physical landscape, but driving social progress and creating jobs. Last year, our industry contributed nearly SGD 20 billion to Singapore’s GDP, and employed 16% of the workforce, around 602,000 jobs. Over time, our contributions have grown beyond the physical.
In recent years, REDAS members have extended their vision into areas of sustainability, innovation, digitalisation, and inclusiveness. From landmark eco-friendly designs to world record- breaking green spaces, our projects have gained international recognition, setting new standards and reinforcing Singapore’s commitment to responsible and forward-thinking development.”
Turning 65 is indeed an important milestone for the Association. It celebrates the unwavering commitment, resilience, determination and dedication amongst all who have been part of this journey of nation building. Collectively, REDAS members have contributed significantly to the physical development of the nation. Their endeavors and many notable achievements mirror Singapore’s success as a global and vibrant city, an attractive place to work, live, play and invest in
REDAS Cares
Throughout its journey of nation building, REDAS has also strived to grow a caring fraternity among members and industry partners to support our community, especially the underprivileged and vulnerable. To celebrate its 65th anniversary, the Association invited its members to support a worthy cause, the President’s Challenge. With the strong support of several members and with REDAS internal charity fund, a “cheque” of $300,000 was presented to President Tharman at the dinner.
REDAS Recognises
On this memorable occasion, REDAS presented REDAS Lifetime Achievement Award to a business leader in real estate who has made significant contributions to the community & the built environment. Mr Chia Ngiang Hong, REDAS Immediate Past President received this esteemed award from President Tharman. It is the highest honor that REDAS bestows on its members.
Mr Chia accepted this honour with profound gratitude and humility. He said, “Looking around this ballroom, I feel deeply privileged to have worked alongside industry giants – trailblazing developers, fellow veterans and key stakeholders – who have shaped Singapore’s real estate industry and transformed our cityscape. REDAS has come a long way in establishing itself as a united voice for developers and plays a constructive role in providing feedback on policy matters concerning the private sector to the Government.
It has been a trusted partner to the Government and a key advocate for our real estate sector. Tonight’s milestone reflects the resilience, commitment and dedication of its members and stakeholders. The future holds boundless potential, and I am confident the next generation will uphold the values that have guided REDAS and continue to lead Singapore’s transformation and growth with purpose. This award is a cherished testament to our shared journey, which I will treasure.”
