CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Social contributions to society has been an integral part of REDAS’ corporate mission. Since 1976, REDAS successfully hosted golf tournaments to raise funds for the needy and the less privileged in society as well as investing in the education of our young through its REDAS Awards Scheme. The Association’s concerted effort have benefited close to 38 beneficiaries, including welfare homes for the elderly, children and disabled as well as hospitals and other charitable causes.
As a responsible corporate citizen, REDAS is committed to fostering an inclusive community and strengthening the social fabric of Singapore, our nation and home, where our enterprises can thrive. Together with members, the Association embarks on community projects which help to build bonds with the public.
In 2013, REDAS stepped up its Corporate Social Responsibility programme and set up the REDAS Foundation as a charity fund managed under the Community Foundation of Singapore.
Since its inception, the Foundation donated $150,000 to Alzheimer’s Disease Association and $300,000 to ARC Children’s Centre in support of their customised arts and music programme. Other beneficiaries included “Bare Your Sole 2014” event organised by the Habitat for Humanity Singapore and HCA Hospice Care.
On its Jubilee Anniversary in 2019, REDAS embarked on a special initiative to raise funds for ComChest in support of KidSTART programme and received overwhelming support. A total of $600,000 was donated to KidSTART. This collective giving and generosity speaks volume of a caring fraternity within REDAS for our community.
As show of appreciation and care to the nation’s dedicated frontline workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically those in the healthcare and built environment, REDAS specially set up the REDAS Solidarity Project Fund in 2020 and rallied members to contribute to the Funds. Over 80 members contributed $852,000. The monies went towards 200,000 care packs and 800 standing fans for migrant workers as well as gift vouchers to some 22,000 healthcare workers in Singapore Health Services (SingHealth).
REDAS was presented 2 Awards – Charity Platinum & Community Spirit – Gold in recognition of its contributions towards Community Chest in 2019/2020. The Association’s generous support had enabled ComChest to continue supporting their social service agencies and their service users during this difficult period of time.
In 2021, REDAS continued to support the less fortunate within our midst and donated $100,000 to the Community Link (ComLink). The ComLink programme provides comprehensive and coordinated support to low-income families. It will be expanded nationwide to 21 towns over two years to cover all 14,000 families with children in public rental housing.
REDAS is indeed proud to be part of the SG Cares Community Network’s mission to strengthen community support for vulnerable groups in our society and help them in their journey towards sustainability, self-reliance and social mobility.
As REDAS celebrates its 63rd Anniversary in 2022, the Association will continue to reach out to the underprivileged within our community, especially to help the needy and vulnerable among us.
